This bronze sculpture was conceived by Alicia Penalba in 1952/1953 and cast in an edition of 6 by Susse Fondeurs, Paris

As one of her first sculptures after a radical change in style in the early 1950s, Penalba’s bronze sculpture ‘Passion de la Jungle’ can be seen as a flower bud in spring, ready to blossom into all the organic shapes of her later work.

Penalba created several versions of this sculpture.
The largest version of this sculpture, 210 cm high and made of granite, is located in front of an apartment building in Vitry-sur-Seine, Paris

Jungle Passion clearly reflects her interest in exploring the forms and textures found in natural environments.
