This bronze sculpture was conceived by Alicia Penalba in 1973 and cast in an edition of 8 by Valsuani Foundry, Paris.

The Spanish word Ventisquero means Snowdrift, a zone in a mountain where heavy snow accumulations occur.
In Patagonia, the southern end of South America, governed by Argentina and Chile, many glaciers were titled with Ventisquero, such as Ventisquero Negro or Grandes Ventisqueros.
